Abegael Fisher-LangAbegael Fisher-Lang, far from her Nova Scotian roots, is an acclaimed British Columbia storyteller known for her repertoire of the everyday to the mythopoetic.  She has told world tales at business conferences, Celtic myths to university classes, Hannukah legends in a wintry barn, funny Jack tales at Word-on-the-Street, and a baby crone cycle to women’s initiation circles.
She inspires others to tell their own stories, and coaches them, with skill and humour, in crafting memorable stories to celebrate life events.

As artistic director for World Storytelling Day events and Vancouver International Storytelling Festivals, Abegael is known for bringing people together to celebrate good storytelling, and her artful hosting.

Committed to education through imagination, Abegael has taught all grades in Waldorf education, created story curricula for the national program Learning Through the Arts, (www.ltta.ca) and presented pedagogical workshops for the Imaginative Education Research Group at Simon Fraser University (www.ierg.net).

Abegael is profiled in Mentors in our Midst, a publication of the West Vancouver Community Arts Council for her initiatives in creative community storytelling.

With her great love for Wales, (for what other culture is symbolized by a great red dragon?) Abegael hosted the 2002 Welsh Mabinogion Epic Weekend, won first place for storytelling at the North American Welsh Eisteddfod Festival 2003, and has read and told Dylan Thomas poetry and stories.

The mother of a creative Downs Syndrome teenager, Abegael is committed to bringing the joy of storytelling to special communities.  She is listening for the healing myth of our time while her son Aiden, aka King Arthur, searches the nearby forest for swords in stones.
Continually inspired by his joy of language and adventure, Abegael is grateful for the abundant gifts of story in our lives.

It is an exalted place...there is no power greater than our collective imagination, and storytelling  strengthens this, tale by tale. That is why I tell!
